The Samuel Colt: Arms, Art and Invention exhibition will be displayed at the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum through September 1st. Three semi trucks brought the exhibit to the museum, one of four museums in the nation, and the only venue in Texas given the honor of hosting this exclusive event.
Available for viewing in the Harrington Changing Gallery, the exhibit gives insight into the heart and soul of Samuel Colt. He was a revolutionary; the Bill Gates of his time, whose innovations in manufacturing and marketing changed the way business was done in America. Only fifty percent of the 200 pieces in the exhibition are firearms, the rest is comprised of fine art, jewelry, medals, awards, furniture and factory photos among other things.
Panhandle Plains Historical Museum is the last chance for the public to see the collection before it goes back into storage in Hartford, Connecticut. Be sure to mark off some time on your summer calendar to experience this important piece of history!
